Before You Arrive: Airport + Transportation Information
-
For your trip, you should fly into:
Benito Juárez International Airport (AICM)
(Aeropuerto Internacional Benito Juárez / Mexico City International Airport)
This is the primary airport for Mexico City and the best airport to fly into for the house location.
-
Once your flights are booked, please send me:
Airline
Flight number
Arrival date + time
Departure date + time
I’d love to have this information on hand so I know when everyone is arriving and departing and can help coordinate things if needed.
-
CDMX will be very busy during Mundial season: airports, roads, restaurants, public transit… basically everything 😄
Please plan for:
heavier airport traffic
longer wait times
more travelers moving through the city extra time getting around
A little patience and flexibility will go a long way. You’re arriving during one of the most exciting (and busiest!) times in the city.
-
Yes, you can use Uber from the international terminals (Terminal 1 and Terminal 2) at AICM, but it involves navigating around strict airport regulations and local taxi unions. The airport actively restricts rideshare pickups, so you will need to walk to a designated pickup zone or specific curbside spot to meet your driver.
How to Catch Your Uber
Because of ongoing disputes and National Guard enforcement at the airport, you cannot simply request a car from your arrival gate. Follow these steps:
Terminal 1: Walk outside to the curbside at the designated passenger pickup points, typically around Gates 2 or 4.
Terminal 2: Drivers usually ask you to meet them at the designated, official rideshare pickup zone (located a brief walk between Terminals 1 and 2) or along the main upper-level drop-off/departure area to avoid airport security.
Do Not Wait Inside: Request your Uber only after you have cleared customs, collected your luggage, and are ready to walk directly to the curb.
Important Safety and Logistics Tips
Ignore Solicitors: You will likely be approached inside the terminal by aggressive solicitors offering "official Uber/taxi services." Never accept these rides, as they can lead to scams or heavily inflated prices.
Coordinate Discreetly: Do not panic if your driver tells you to be discreet or hurry into the car; this is done to avoid conflict with concessioned airport taxi operators.
IMPORTANT: Things are always changing, please look into this before you arrive to ensure you have the most up to date information.

Authorized Airport Taxis (My Recommended Option)
I’ve personally used the authorized airport taxis many times and honestly trust and like them.
Please avoid random airport taxis outside the terminal.
Here’s how it works:
Step 1: Land + Complete Airport Process
After you:
✔️ land
✔️ go through customs
✔️ pick up luggage
✔️ complete inspections…you’ll exit into the public arrivals area.
Step 2: Find the Authorized Taxi Stands
In my experience (especially in the Volaris section), the taxi stands are usually located to the right after exiting arrivals.
You’ll see several authorized taxi booths.
I typically use Yellow Cab, but any of the official stands should work well.
Step 3: Request Your Taxi
Walk up to the counter and tell them you'd like a taxi.
They’ll ask where you’re going.
Tell them:
Colonia: Santa María la Ribera
They’ll provide you with a fare estimate.
Estimated cost:
Approximately 500–700 pesos (roughly $30–$40 USD, subject to traffic / airport pricing).Step 4: Pay & Receive Your Ticket
After paying, they’ll give you your taxi ticket(s) and tell you which exit door to use.
Walk to that designated door.
Outside, you’ll find a taxi queue / staging area.
Step 5: Meet Your Taxi
When it’s your turn:
You’ll typically hand one ticket to the attendant
One ticket goes to your driver
Then provide the driver with the exact house address listed below in this guide.
And voilà! Off to the casita

The short answer: we’re taking it match by match 😄
I’ll likely be coordinating some plans with a friend of mine, and as we get closer to specific games, we’ll have a better sense of what feels fun and doable.
Possible options could include:
watching at bars
heading to the Zócalo
events hosted by friends / community gatherings
spontaneous plans inspired by the Mundial energy ✨
More details will come as we get closer to the matches.
That said, flexibility and adaptability will be our friends during this season. CDMX will be busy, exciting, and full of possibilities.
And very importantly: you are absolutely welcome to make your own plans too!
There’s no expectation that everyone needs to do the same thing every day. Join in when it aligns, explore independently when it doesn’t, and let’s all enjoy the experience in the way that feels best to us.
