My Story
No one taught me how to be a manager; I was just given the title, responsibility, and the expectation to be one literally overnight. I spent a lot of time and energy learning how to be the best manager I could. I read books and articles, attended webinars, sought out peopleβs advice, and searched for anything and everything that could help me feel less like an imposter. I wanted to feel like I deserved this opportunity. Like I was not constantly failing at my job. It was hard and it weighed on me. Most of the time, it felt like I was on a winding road with dense fog, not always clear where I was going. But I had the willingness and determination to keep moving forward, and from this developed the wisdom and lessons Iβll share with you so you donβt have to go through it alone. We gotta break these cycles!
Iβve spent the last fourteen years as a leader in the nonprofit sector across operations and program management, including managing multimillion-dollar budgets and fundraising campaigns. I have expertise in building systemic change within nonprofits that work with underrepresented and underserved communities and am a certified coach guiding BIWOC professionals to meet their potential. In 2020, I co-founded and launched Your Truth At Work, a WOC-led DEIB consulting agency that is shattering racist, sexist and otherwise oppressive workplace practices. We help organizations and marginalized communities identify and acknowledge the damage and pain caused by toxic work tactics and righteously advocate for the true healing of individuals. Through transformative workshops, consulting, and coaching, we provide non-performative DEIB initiatives for organizations β lighting the way for systemic transformation.
My mission is to create a world in which everyone is free to be their most authentic self.
